4 Books for personal development
Are you looking for an excellent book to inspire you? Are you in need of some resources to help personally motivate you? I have a few personal development books that I'd love to recommend that are on my book lists for the first quarter of this year.
This blog post will introduce you to the books, the authors, and what I've gained from each.
How To Do The Work
By. Dr. Nicole LePera
Although initially unfamiliar with her work, I learned of this book one evening while listening to satellite radio. I was genuinely impressed by her approach and teachings. The book provides a comprehensive look at healing and moving forward in life with a more positive outlook.
Dr. LePera encourages readers to look inward and tap into their inner wisdom rather than being dependent on outside sources for guidance. She provides tools and techniques to help people manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors more effectively. I found the book to be beneficial. It forced me to take a new approach to dealing with some complex things that I’ve dealt with. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to make positive changes in their life.
Hunger
By: Roxane Gay
I first learned of Roxane Gay during my one-time membership of Masterclass, an app designed to connect you with celebrities as they teach you the ins and outs of their industry. Gay was the inspiration behind my desire to write specifically about trauma.
Her book “Hunger” is an eye-opening and thought-provoking memoir that explores the complex relationship between body, identity, and self-worth. Gay deftly weaves personal experiences and cultural reflections to examine her own struggles with overeating, her tumultuous relationship with her body, and the impact of trauma and oppression in her life.
With poignancy and candor, Gay's story is profoundly moving and inspiring. Her willingness to examine her self-destructive behaviors and connect them to more significant societal issues is a testament to her bravery and commitment to self-growth. Hunger is an important and necessary book that will resonate with readers of all backgrounds—highly recommended.
you are a badass
By: Jen Sincero
Every time I’ve visited the bookstore, my eyes always gravitated to the growing brand of “You Are A Badass” books. So I gave it a try and read the first released book within this collection. I was thoroughly impressed.
This book is about taking control of your life and becoming the person you know you can be. Jen Sincero gives you the tools and the guidance to do just that. She shares her journey and provides practical advice, actionable tips, and inspiring stories to help you unlock your true potential and become the person you want to be.
I found the book to be beneficial and inspirational. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for motivation, tools, and strategies to take control of their life and achieve their goals.
you owe you
By: Eric Thomas, PhD
One of the most encouraging and passionate people I follow on social media is Dr. Eric Thomas, also known as ET the Hip Hop Preacher. His energy and persistence to motivate people are contagious, so reading his latest book was on my list.
“You Owe You” is a book I would highly recommend to anyone looking for motivation and inspiration to help them reach their goals. The book focuses on personal responsibility and encourages readers to take ownership of their lives and success.
Dr. Thomas emphasizes that you are in control of your destiny and must work hard to achieve your goals. He shares stories from his own life and those of others to illustrate his points. I found this book to be very encouraging and inspiring. The book was written in an accessible and engaging way that made it easy to follow.
Overall, this is an excellent read for anyone looking to take charge of their life and achieve their dreams. Check out his YouTube videos for an added dose of motivation.
